Redgate Asset Management
Redgate Asset Management – Excellence through focus and dedication
Today's exceptionally challenging investment environment requires a stronger focus than ever. We intend to take this responsibility seriously – Redgate Asset Management is committed to make investments in the regions where we have made the most of our experience, and where our local knowledge and contacts shine the most – in Russia, other Former Soviet Union countries, and also in the Baltic area.
Within our target region, we will focus on a few select areas – investments in two asset classes, equity and bonds – managed through highly recognised Luxembourg-based mutual funds. For that reason, we are in the process of launching two open-ended Luxembourg SICAV UCITS mutual funds in 2009, mainly directed to institutional investors and high net worth individuals in Scandinavia, western Europe and the Baltics.
Investment approach
Our investments are mostly driven by a bottom-up approach but just to make sure, we employ additional ingredients vis-à-vis formal workbook standards in our investment process. Above all, our investment decisions are based on a process characterised by experience, a strong network of local contacts and presence, long-term commitment and a high degree of inspiration.
Redgate Asset Management expertise extends right across the greater Russian and Baltic markets with a systematic and detailed approach to the value of individual investments and regions. While picking investments, we start the process by analysing the big picture, and pick sectors and themes that are expected to benefit the most from short-to-mid-term development. By focusing on investment objectives, and capital appreciation goals, our investments are, uniquely, not heavily weighted towards energy – the oil and gas sectors; we actively focus on other investments which tap into broader growth potential e.g. engineering, mining, retail, food, and financial sectors.
One of the most important tasks, especially in our investment region, is to be familiar with local business features. We are closely in touch with the management of our target companies through regular company visits, and we talk frequently with central banks and authorities, mostly in their native languages.
In addition, our investments aim at taking long-term advantage of significantly decreased valuation after the massive sell-off on the region’s markets due to the global financial crisis and credit crunch that started in 2008.
This is active investment management which focuses on stock picking through a combination of undervalued investment regions, and on cash generating growth sectors, which has professional team with a strong track record that facilitates local presence through frequent company and region visits, a close cooperation with the best experts in the respective markets, and systematic bottom-up in-house analyses.
Redgate’s investment team
Previously, professionals of Redgate Asset Management have attracted millions of euros in investments to securities in Russian and Baltic countries, which have delivered stellar performance. The members of our investment team have an average investment experience of 10 years in investing in our focus areas, from institutions like Suprema Asset Management and SEB Funds. Our key strengths are experience in our field of business, thorough knowledge of our investment objects and of the markets, a selected range of cooperation partners and good team spirit. . Active interaction with companies, cooperation partners and other investment professionals in their native language is a feature that distinguishes us from the majority of other investment professionals, especially from quantitatively-driven benchmark-tracking fund managers.
Currently, investors are facing the most difficult environment in decades. Emotions have caused the markets to sell off at irrational levels. This has created a remarkable opportunity for long-term investors. Building on our former experience, local knowledge and contacts, as well as having a disciplined and consistent work process, we are committed to delivering outstanding results in the long run.
